10k Shell "Hera" Goddess Cameo Ring
Very RARE antique shell cameo ring. This ring is well over 100 years old and in very good condition. The ring was kept in a lock box for many years and was a family heirloom. The lady I acquired this lovely ring from does not have any immediate family and would like me to find a loving home for it. The majority of the value for this piece is in the age and condition. Most cameo rings at his age point are broken, chipped, discolored or have visible wear. An amazing find for that antique loving person in your life.
While the birthplace of the cameo was nearly 300 years before the birth of Christ in Alexandria, Egypt, cameos owe their origins to ancient carving traditions.
Hera (/ˈhɛrə, ˈhɪərə/; Greek: Ἥρᾱ, Hērā; Ἥρη, Hērē in Ionic Greek) is the goddess of women, marriage, family, and childbirth in ancient Greek religion and myth, one of the Twelve Olympians and the sister-wife of Zeus. She is the daughter of the Titans Cronus and Rhea. Hera rules over Mount Olympus as queen of the gods. A matronly figure, Hera served as both the patroness and protectress of married women, presiding over weddings and blessing marital unions.
