Retro Ketcham & McDougall Silver Plate Etchall Pencil Brooch
So this amazing retractable pencil brooch is the perfect gift for that special teacher. This functional jewelry item was manufactured by Ketcham & McDougall in the 1940's. It is silver over brass with some wear to the face (brass is showing through a little were the silver plate has worn off (please view photos). It is in perfect working order. Brooch pin is perfect and all manufacture marks are clearly visible on back. You can still purchase pencil lead refills at many different retailers. Established in 1832, they were referred to as 'The Thimble House' because their business was pretty much limited in the specialty of that sewing necessity. They then expanded to retractable pencil jewelry and and functional silver items. They opened a manufacturing location in East Orange, New Jersey in 1939 and eventually closed in 2003.
