Vintage 14k Opal Gold Burst Earrings by Priscilla
Amazing natural opals with flashes of blues, greens and pinks. These 1960 earrings by Priscilla where originally purchased as a gift in Silver City at Gantz Jewelers by a lady named Virginia for her mother Myrtle while on a visit. They have been in the family ever since and are know looking for a forever home. These earrings come tucked away in the original velvet box and outer box.
A little history on the Silver City Jewelry store where these were originally sold - Mr. Paul R. Gantz was born in 1895 in Industry, IL. While he was attending his first year as a law student, he enlisted with the U.S. Army Air Corps. and served in WWI. After his discharge as a sergeant, he contracted tuberculosis and was admitted to Fort Bayard on Oct. 20, 1920 where he was hospitalized for 2 1/2 years. After restoration of his health in 1923, he was chosen secretary of the Sojourners Club, a Masonic welfare-social service and recreation organization operating for the benefit of the hospital patients. Mr. Gantz opened a jewelry business in Silver City in 1929 which operates today under his name Paul R. Gantz Jeweler. He passed in 1984 and at the time was survived by his wife Constance of 33 years and children.
