Art Deco Platinum Morganite & Diamond Pendant
 
The most beautiful girl in the world... I couldn't help but sing a Prince song while listing this.  This pendant is literally one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.  It is so well crafted and just perfect.  The diamond encrusted bow is subtle and the right size to accent the amazing fine quality oval faceted pink morganite stone.  So eye clean and transparent, you can see right through the center stone.  The morganite measures 19.9mm x 12.25 x 7.7mm at approx. 11.36cts.  The diamonds are F-G in color so nice and white with VS clarity.  The chain shown is sterling silver NOT platinum and does come with the pendant for packaging purposes.  It matches perfectly, but a platinum chain upgrade is recommended as it will be stronger with no worries of tarnish, etc.
 
This magnificent pendant was acquired from an estate out of New York.  It was a wedding present to a young lady nicknamed "Lucy", who traveled from Austria to marry here in the US.  She was a very young 15 and was entering into an arranged marriage.  We are not quite sure whom gifted the item, but it was for her wedding day.  Her scandalous story reads like a romance novel.  She married her husband who was 28 at the time and bore four children.  The rumor is that the third and four daughters were conceived out of an affair she had with a gentleman friend who was also a business partner to her husband.  Her husband who was known to have frequent affairs knew of her love for another, but treated all the children as his own, until his death at the age of 41.  He did however, hold a bit of a grudge and chose not to leave his widow a single cent, while bequeathing all four children, as well as, two children that he conceived with a lover, his fortune.  She however, despaired not, and lived a happy rest of her life with her lover.  They never married, but lived together until his death 26 years later.  The pendant has stayed in the family until now.  The last living relative is a friend of mine and with no living children or grand children of her own; she is hoping that someone will fall in love with this pendant and give it a new forever home.
