Damascene Floral Brooch
 
This lovely brooch was one of Aunt Virginia's favorites and is looking for a new home.  The black face showcases a full flower bloom and two side buds with leaves.  The gold leaf is 10k yellow and green gold with the brooch frame a gold ton over steel.  It is in good condition with NO breaks or cracks to face or frame.  The back pin and catch are in perfect working order.  The perfect size at an inch in diameter for a scarf, sweater, hat or bag.  This would also make a nice sympathy piece to let that loved one know you are thinking of them during a difficult time.

Damascene jewelry is generally made by inlaying oxidized steel with gold or silver, creating intricate designs that resemble tapestry patterns.  Many speculate the technique used to create damascene pieces originated in the Middle East and spread to other regions via Muslim artisans as early as the 8th century.
